Q: Is there a timeline or checklist for the changes?
A: At this time we don't have a specific date but it is believed to be occuring in January.
Q: When will the search and new file system urls be changing?
A:At this time we don't have a specific date but it is believed to be occuring in January.
Q: What areas will have redirects to new Aabaco URLs?
A: The main areas we know that will have redirects in place will be checkout (cart and beyond), search pages (when using Yahoo's search now), and any hard coded references to Yahoo's files section (new file manager CDN or old files section). Nothing new for redirects is being added to your actual store page content.
Q: How long will the redirects be in place?
A: At this time we don't know the timeframe for the new redirects but we do expect it will be for an extended period of time.
Q: Will there be any SEO impact of the redirects put in place?
A: As we understand it, there should be virtually no SEO impact of the redirects. The redirects for cart and checkout only impact those urls and not your store domain. Since cart and search pages generally never rank in search results, we expect no SEO impact. For the files section of the store, in many cases stores already have relative urls referencing files which already redirect, so they will now just redirect to a new location. If your urls are hard coded with a full path to any yahoo url, those will need to be changed to either the new full path or a relative path. But even at this, we don't expect any seo impact of this change.
Q: How will the redirects impact speed of the site?
A: Depending on how your store was built, the file section redirects could add a very small delay on accessing files if you have your store hard coded to the final urls now. If your store uses relative urls (which will work immediately in the new system), then there won't be any increase in load time as your files already hit a redirect when loading. The bulk of the load time of your site would not be due to any redirects so in most cases the change, if any, would be minimal.
Q: Are there browser issues that might have issues with the redirects?
A: All current browsers will support the redirects.
Q: What are the new URLs for the files, checkout and search?
A: At this time we don't know the new urls. We'll update this as we get more information.
Q: When will the new API URLs be in effect?
A: At this time we don't have a date on the new urls. According to Yahoo's article (The base domain of the API addresses will change from yahooapis.net to luminateapis.com. For example, the Order API address would change from yourstoreid.order.store.yahooapis.com to yourstoreid.order.store.luminateapis.com)
Q: Will there be overlap time between the new and old API URLs?
A: At this time we don't know if there will be overlap.
Q: How will 3rd party services be impacted by the api changes?
A: For those services that use Yahoo's APIs to update the store or read data from the store, they will need to update their api urls. Some services like Feed Wizards, Advanced Shipping Manager and Promo Manager, they don't use Yahoo's APIs to update or read data so won't be impacted. Others like Stone Edge/Monsoon or Stamps.com would need to update.
Q: How can I get my site updated for any possible issues or changes needed?
A: We are offering a service to update your store at (http://yahoo.yourstorewizards.com/yahoo-to-luminate-update.html) . We will be handling these once the transition occurs in the order they are received. If any stores have critical items, that for some reason would not function with the redirects or are impacted on the changeover, those will be given priority to make sure the store is operational.
Q: Your Store Wizards built my site, can you review and update it?
A: Yes, if we built out your site in the last 2 years just contact us and we can get in your updates free of charge. If features were added by other developers that need adjusting, there may be a charge for those.
Q: Are there services from Your Store Wizards/Feed Wizards that will be impacted?
A: Most services we offer will continue to operate as is. The few updates needed we will be adjusting as the transition occurs in any backend services.
Q: Are there features from Your Store Wizards installed that will be impacted?
A: Most features will work without change. We will be rolling out an update for our Google Analytics install as older installs may have some issues with data from Safari browsers. Some other features that are cart related (upsell wizard, quick view and floating cart) may need eventual updates to the new cart urls but they should continue to work with the redirects in place.
We fully support any templates or features purchased from, or installed by Your Store Wizards.
